Plastic Parasites
These plastic parasites take over the trees, at the same time becoming part of nature.
A dangerous beauty.
About half of the plastics ever made, date back to the last 15 years. There is no place in the sea or on the ocean floor, where no plastics have been found. Plastics are absorbed by all organisms. Will the plastic parasites eventually take over everything?
This sculpture is made by Susanne Sørensen for the art-event ‘Once in the Wetland’, part of the Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018 Cultural Capital. It is part of an art-route throughout a protected wetland area, the ‘Rottige Meenthe’.
